OECP teachers receive 32 hours of WestEd Program for Infant/Toddler Care (PITC) training in their first year, plus ongoing professional development throughout the year.

Program for Infant/Toddler Care (PITC)

Developed by WestEd, the PITC curriculum is delivered across four modules. Together they prepare educators to provide responsive, relationship-based care for infants and toddlers.

Module I

Social-Emotional Growth & Socialization

Supporting healthy social and emotional development as the foundation for all later learning.

Module II

Group Care

Organizing high-quality group care settings that keep infants and toddlers safe, secure, and engaged.

Module III

Learning & Development

Understanding how very young children learn and how to nurture early cognitive and language growth.

Module IV

Culture, Family & Providers

Partnering with families and honoring culture to provide consistent, responsive care.
